The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, has been very anticipated by fans since DC announced a new Batman movie. The Batman was set to be released in June 2021, but after continuous delays due to covid it was pushed back multiple times, but now it has finally been released in theaters. Robert Pattinson has been casted as Bruce Wayne (Batman), and Zoe Kravitz as Cat Woman. There will be spoilers past this point.
The opening scene of the movie starts off with the Riddler looking into the mayor's apartment through a distance. It leads on to the Riddler making the mayor his first victim and leaving clues/”riddles” for Batman. Batman then goes on to “work” with the police in trying to find out who the Riddler is and stop him. It later goes on to introduce Cat Woman, and shows a little bit of her storyline and how it is intertwined with Batman's.
When most people think of Robert Pattinson, they think of the love struck vampire that fights with werewolves and other supernatural creatures. So naturally I thought, how can he go from this man who once acted as a vampire to this strong DC superhero? And a lot of people felt the same way. But after watching this movie, I definitely think he proved everyone wrong. He did really well of portraying that mysterious vibe Batman is supposed to have, and overall played the character really well. Looking back on previous roles Pattinson did, his appearance is completely different than it is as his role as batman. Comparing him from Edward to him as Bruce, he visibly has a stronger and broader build.
Every video or comment I have seen about this movie so far raved about Zoe Kravitz as Cat Woman, and they were absolutely right. Her character's first scene was her working as a waitress in a high profile club, bringing drinks to “the penguin” while batman was “interrogating” him and this is where Batman and Cat Woman first meet. The chemistry between them was so palpable. While their relationship was not a big part of the movie, it was a great little addition. Kravitz had a couple of fighting scenes, some with Batman and some with others, and I thought they were executed well. You tell everyone trained and put in a lot of effort and work into these fight scenes and the movie overall. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and give it a 4 out of 5.
