Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, after getting permission from her father, the engagement was announced via an Instagram post with photos from their proposal. Kelce proposed within the comfort of his own home in Leawood, Kansas.
Looking back on their relationship, the pair started their relationship in July 2023, when Kelce tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it at her Eras Tour concert. After that, sparks flew! The pair became very public, with Swift attending Chiefs games at Arrowhead stadium in support of Kelce.
Many Swifties feel for Swift, as we grew up listening to her heartbreak songs, and seeing her go through some heartbreaking relationships, she finally found “The 1.”
In Swift’s song, “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My),” in her debut album released in 2006, there was a play on Kelce and Swift coincidence for the future. In one lyric, “I’ll be eighty-seven; you’ll be eighty-nine” all swifties thought it was such a concidence.
Kelce’s jersey number as tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is eighty-seven, and Swift was born in eighty-nine.
Call it what you want, but that is a pretty good coincidence. Swift finally got her love story. Planning for a wedding after the 2026 football season, we hope Kelce and Swift can celebrate one more super bowl together before calling themselves newlyweds.
