Four varsity football players from Brewer high school have been spotlighted in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for their high ranking talents on and off the field. This post was made to recognize these hard working players who have devoted their lives to playing football. These players have dedicated their time and commitment to this sport, showing up everyday and giving it their all is what caught the eyes of Star-Telegram.

This recognition brings the attention to student athletes Colton Plemons, Kameron Coleman, Da’myrain Wash and Jake Hankins. These athletes have played football for years and plan to go further with their sport. Celebrating their achievements doesn’t mean they came easily.

“The most challenging thing in my career was losing the first round of the playoffs,” Coleman said. "I stay motivated by staying humble and keeping my head up.”

Going through tough times is difficult enough, and it can be harder as an athlete. However, it's what they do to get out of those situations that really shape their character. Many people play important roles in these athletes’ lives. Some of these supporters are family members, friends, coaches or even teammates.

Whatever the relation may be, having someone on their side has helped them succeed.

“It just takes consistency and being there every day for your team,” Plemons said.

Brewer has set up an amazing football system that has opened doors for success to the athletes. Hankins has just signed to a D1 college, Stephen F. Austin University, setting up his future for excellence. The others are just as motivated and also plan on going as far as they can with football, all while carrying the mental toughness into the next chapter of their lives.

“The game involves mental preparation. You have to visualize it, rethink and play the next play giving it 100%,” Wash said.

With that in mind, recognizing the accomplishments these athletes have achieved is very important. Highlighting what years of blood, sweat and tears has created, their well-deserved spotlight shows others what the crowds see every Friday night.
