As the new school year starts, many changes have occurred. One of the most noticeable changes here at Brewer High School is the new coaches. Brewer welcomes 19 dedicated coaches to the staff team.
“I wanted to be a coach young, everybody in my family did something to help people, so I just knew I was gonna be a teacher,” new football and track coach Daniel Foster said.
Behind every great team is an even greater coach. We have an incredible football team that is destined for greatness; they just need coaches who believe in them and help them believe in themselves. Brewer has considered that when offering these new coaches the job.
“It’s been an adjustment moving from Kansas, but it’s fun getting to know everybody,” new football and powerlifting coach Logan Fritz said.
Helping people is something that comes naturally to Coach Foster. Being raised in a kind-hearted environment helped bring that into his coaching career. Coaches should be passionate and caring towards their athletes, teaching not only the game but also that kindness goes a long way.
Adjusting to a new environment can be challenging for others, but not for Fritz. From coaching in Kansas, but always dreaming of coaching Texas football, Coach Fritz plans to not only push his players to their full potential, but also make connections with them.
“To describe my coaching style, it would be zero tolerance and being accountable. The two things anybody can control every day are their attitude and effort,” Fritz said.
Accountability and a good attitude are key for him; he not only applies them to his players, but to himself as a coach.
“I have gotten to coach with many of my former coaches," Zeke Kuyawa, the new football and baseball coach, said. "I have been fortunate to be a part of some successful teams."
Receiving directions from someone new can be difficult, but the connection Coach Kuyawa has established with his athletes ensures them that he is there and that he cares for them.
“The biggest thing is showing athletes that you care about them not only on the field but also off the field," Kuyawa said. "Finding out their interests, hobbies or simply just checking in on them outside of athletics are things that I think are important.”
Hiring Coach Kuyawa was a perfect decision for Brewer. He is someone who has taken a real interest in the athletes and is ready to better them. Someone who has this same personality trait is Jayden Coleman, one of the newest coaches.
“I have been blessed with extraordinary coaches in high school and college. I want to have an impact on student-athletes like coaches I have crossed paths with have impacted me,” new football and wrestling coach Jayden Coleman said.
Landing a stop on a team with extraordinary coaches isn't easy, but that's never a problem here at Brewer. Making athletes feel comfortable and seen by their coaches is the goal. Basketball is a way of life for some people. The thrill of the game and excitement of it all have people always looking forward to watching a great basketball game.
Brewer’s basketball team, boys and girls, always ensures that you are on the edge of your seat with excitement, but it takes an amazing coaching staff to make that happen.

“You have all the resources within you to be a success, just need to know how to access those resources,” new head of girls basketball coach, Harold Jackson, said.
Coach Jackson isn't afraid to push his athletes when it comes to molding them into better people and players. His motivation to make an impact on his athletes lives is admirable. These coaches have their mind set on bettering these athletes.
“If our athletes think football is the most important thing to me, then I have failed. I want to be intentional in getting to know them,” Coach Coleman said.
The last thing a coach should want is to see their athletes fail, but that will never happen at Brewer. The support system Brewer has built for their athletes is impeccable.
“I care about all of them and will always look out for their best interest,” new football and powerlifting coach Blaine Sanderson said.
The BHS coaches are determined to help their athletes believe in themselves and believe that they have a future to look forward to.
These coaches have come to train their athletes and mentor their students. They are all people you could depend on to help you if needed. These are just a few coaches amongst the many at our school, and they are ready to change and improve their teams.
