Phenomenon and iconic movie star Reese Witherspoon stars as Elle Woods in the movie series Legally Blonde. This iconic movie was released back in 2001 and was such a big movie in its time. The film is still making its way down history 20 years later. The message within the movie itself is what makes the film one of a kind and made to watch anytime. Stereotypical blonde portrayed one way proves to be more than everyone thinks. So, what is it about this movie that keeps people re-watching it after so many years?

The movie starts off with the making and transportation of Witherspoon’s character Elle’s birthday card given to her from all her sorority sisters and friends. She is also with her then boyfriend Warner Huntington played by movie star Matthew Davis. Elle hopes he proposes the night of her birthday, but little does she know her whole life is about to take an unexpected turn. She becomes determined to be the best and applies to Harvard. The film goes on to show Elle’s determination to get into Harvard and her journey at the school. She quickly realizes that life is very much different from the safe space of her sorority back home - which only pushes her to study harder to be the best she can be. Elle, along with three other peers, is awarded an internship with their professor to help on a real court case. As the movie spirals towards the end, more shocking and surprising events take place and keep the audience waiting for the results.

The stereotypes and female presence are what makes this movie so iconic for many people such as myself. I love the elements and how they switch things up so it’s not what you would expect to happen. Reese Witherspoon’s portrayal of Elle’s character and personality couldn’t have been more spot on. Her iconic lines are still quoted today and are very well known within the TikTok community.

The storyline and character development throughout the film is my personal favorite. The stereotypes and hypocrisy that follows the female image is what makes it so relatable to viewers. If I were to rate this film from a scale of 1-10, it would be 10. It’s an all-time favorite of mine and would most definitely recommend it to anyone.
