The Brewer’s Got Talent show was hosted by your Ursa Major News crew, and it included nine amazing acts. The acts featured were singing, dancing, broom balancing and a heavy metal band, putting on quite a show.

New to the talent show this year was a segment with two masked singers as a surprise performance. The student body got to vote on who they thought was behind the mask, and whoever guessed both singers correctly won two Conan Gray concert tickets at Dickies Arena in April. The two masked singers were Coach B. and Ms. Schlotterbeck. The winner of the tickets was Mya Castro.

Our judges for the talent show were Coach Barkey, Mrs. Poarch and Mrs. Gonzalez. One of these judges, Coach Barkey, astonished everyone by coming out from behind the judge’s table and singing “Don’t Know Why” by Norah Jones in the middle of the show.

Taking third place was Brewer’s own band Tri-Sabbath, or Josiah Williams, Brock Foster and Benjamin Ferguson. They performed an Ozzy Ozbourne tribute which included “War Pigs” and “Iron Man,” leaving the audience amazed with their guitar and drum skills.

The second place winner was Jeremiah Orr. He sang a breathtaking version of "My Way" by Frank Sinatra.

Our Brewer’s Got Talent People’s Choice Award winner was voted by the student body based on their personal favorite. The winner of the People's Choice Award was Jeremiah Orr.

The overall and returning champion, Janiah Franklin, took first place. She danced to a hip hop mix, leaving everyone energetic and excited. She is a part of the Brewer Honeycombs, where she serves as Senior Lieutenant.

“I knew that when I walked on the floor, I already had so much support, which made me feel more positive and confident,” Janiah Franklin said. “However, winning twice made me more confident in my passion. I am grateful to have been able to showcase myself as an individual, and if I had the chance to do it all again, I would.”

By the end of the talent show, the room was filled with applause and a sense of school spirit. Brewer’s Got Talent recognized not only performance skills, but the creativity and confidence of students willing to take the stage, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
