As of March 22, Brewer High School welcomed Daryl Porter as their new interim principal. With only one nine weeks grading period left, Porter successfully made his transition from CTE director to now principal.

Porter was the Career and Technical Education director for the 2021-2022 school year, until March 2022. He ensures that all students feel comfortable and welcomed.

“Every time Dr. Porter came into my class and he would always interact with all students and the lesson being taught,” said senior practicum student Yazmine Gutierez.

Porter has been in education for fifteen years; he attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri for his bachelor’s, then pursued his master’s from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2020, he graduated from Tarleton State with his doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Porter has had multiple roles in education, “Most recently, before serving in WSISD, I served as an AP and Principal at North Crowley High School and the P-TECH and CTE Innovation coordinator in Crowley ISD,” Porter said. “Prior to administration, I was a social studies teacher and coach in various places.”

Although becoming principal so close to the end of the school year, Porter has successfully transitioned to his new role. He is described as a “great communicator, positive, a motivating leader with admirable values”, said health Science teacher Melissa Galloway.

All in all, Porter has integrated himself into his new role quickly and is admired by many.

“I think Dr. Porter had big shoes to fill and he has exceeded them immeasurably. His presence in the hallways, cafeteria, at events, and even on announcements has been well-liked by all students,” said Galloway.

As of April 18, White Settlement ISD officially announced Dr. Porter as the 2022-2023 school year principal.
